Shi-Jinsong app for iPhone and iPad

The App contains photographs of all Shi Jinsong’s artworks since 2001, including those that have been shown for many times on international exhibitions and those been collected by notable artistic organizations and collectors.

This App also contains reviews and interview articles from three critics and one by artist himself, in which Shi has made a vivid depiction of his artistic experience as well as featured interpretation of his own artistic creation and concept.

This App presents photographs of Shi at his sole exhibition, at his studio as well as in life.

Shi Jinsongs Artworks Show:
- Shi Jinsong reinvents household furnishings as dangerous, threatening: lethal weapons lurking in every room. The idea for these deadly devices came from the birth of the artist’s daughter in 1999. Seeing other parents vie to outdo each other in baby chic, he concluded that social control did not end with Mao’s death—it also pervades the consumer revolution. In jockeying for status and style points, we become both torturers and victims, he says, “at once the designers and the designed”.
- A characteristics always exists in Shi Jinsong’s works: the work itself is like a sharp stainless steel blade, with its apathetic attitude, cutting into the inside of the chaotic society. He casts himself as a member of the system that is hysterical, filled with desire, and absurd, and thus pushes absurdity to its extreme until the system collapses. Behind the absurdity of Shi Jinsong’s Baroque works, one can always vaguely hear some laughs. The laughs can easily penetrate the puzzle and illusion of our era. Another key of his works proves this point even more clearly. It is the post-modern application of traditional aesthetics, surfaced from the power of memories buried deep down, and it makes the transcendence of this era becoming true
- It seduces the desire buried deep in one’s heart, the admiration of violence and aggressiveness, as well as the naïveté, transcendence and fear of bloodiness and death.
